Environment Policy

This Environmental Policy was adopted by Billingborough Parish Council at its meeting on 5 June 2023 and Reviewed in March 2024. 


POLICY SATEMENT

Billingborough Parish Council aims to carry out its activities with environmental consideration and will actively seek to protect and enhance the local environment within its area of operation, whilst endeavouring to ensure that a wider adverse environmental impact does not occur as a result of any of their activities.

 

Aims

In all its activities the Parish Council will aim to:-

a. Minimise the consumption of all resources used in its operations, particularly in respect of the administration of its activities.

b. Seek wherever possible to use only contractors and suppliers who have their own environmental policy that is continually reviewed, updated and measured against recognised, contemporary best practice examples.

 

PRINCIPLES

The Council will endeavour to:-

a) Meet all relevant environmental legislation and regulations.

b) Work with County and District Council Environmental Services Departments for the environmental improvement of the Parish.

c) In the absence of any existing legislation, positively influence parishioners to incorporate environmental considerations in all aspects of parish life.

d) Respect and protect natural resources by practising conservation and good management.

e) Regularly update and improve standards in light of increased understanding and knowledge.

f) Avoid the creation of unnecessary waste by adhering to a policy of considered, strategic purchasing.

g) Encourage the responsible use of energy.

h) Dispose of all unavoidable waste through safe and responsible methods.

i) Recycle and reuse waste materials wherever possible.

j) Support and encourage initiatives that reduce waste, litter, vandalism and graffiti within the community.
