To help with the Billingborough Flood Group (BFG)
Residents’ Responsibilities for Maintaining Clear Drains and Ditches
The Billingborough Flood Group (BFG), in collaboration with the Billingborough Parish Council, has placed notices throughout the village reminding residents not to dispose of debris in drains or ditches located on or near their properties. These measures are intended to keep all drains and ditches clear, thus ensuring the proper flow of surface water.
Recent incidents involving the dumping of garden waste into drains have resulted in blocked culverts and the potential for further obstructions. In accordance with riparian law, landowners are responsible for maintaining the condition and clearance of drains and ditches at all times.
To assist those who may be unable to perform these maintenance tasks, the BFG is establishing a volunteer group dedicated to basic upkeep within the village. We intend to acquire some basic equipment to use for clearing debris and vegetation in the coming months together with appropriate safety clothing.
